Renowned for their innovative, multi-sensory fireworks, inhabitable clouds of gin and tonic and, of course, jelly-making, Bompas & Parr are pioneers in culinary architecture and sensory experiences. They also happen to be our partners, helping us bring the Institute of Flavour to life.
The studio was founded in January 2007, by Sam Bompas & Harry Parr, whose first gastronomic endeavors – stunning jelly sculptures – catapulted them to fame. Since then, they have built a dedicated team of designers, cooks, creatives, technicians and architects, whose collaborative work has given us some of the most sensationally compelling experiences around. With projects as far-fetched as an Edible Biography Banquet, Bompas & Parr have even been known to turn to specialist engineers, artists, scientists, to bring their visions to life.
Armed with a passion for food, flavour and a little flamboyance, Bompas & Parr now join us to create London’s first Institute of Flavour.
Sam Bompas explained: “If history has taught us anything it is that humans exalt in choice. What’s more, science now tells us that everyone’s palate is dramatically different. For example 10% of people can’t actually taste the aromatics in truffles that make them compelling. So you have to trust your own sense of flavour, what you like and dislike. This will be the first installation where you can have over 125,000 flavour combinations of popcorn so come, put aside your devices and revel with us.”
The sensory celebration of seasoning, based in the heart of Soho, will bring to life the pop behind our packs, with hopes of inspiring a new, limited edition flavour to join our current range. If you can’t join us, you can still get creative in our virtual Institute of Flavour. Visit the site from the 17th June to create your own signature seasoning, for your chance to see your flavour made exclusively for stores nationwide.
